Portfolio Type: New website for traditional handmade bricks company

Imperial Handmade Bricks

The Client

Imperial Bricks are one of the UK’s leading suppliers of the finest handmade, wire cut and pressed bricks.

Based locally in rural Shropshire, they specialise in producing a growing range with a strong focus on regional variations, in imperial and metric sizes.

The bricks are expertly reproduced using handmade traditional methods to match brick colours and textures found across the UK over the past 500 years.

The Brief

Although the existing website was successfully generating a good number of enquiries both from SEO and Google AdWords, there were a number of issues with the website.

The website was not responsive, meaning that it did not perform well on mobile and tablet devices, and it did not have a content management system built in, which made any updates or changes difficult and time-consuming to implement. In addition, the company was undergoing a rebrand and needed the website to reflect the revised branding, as well as offer improved functionality and user experience.

The Approach

The new website has many improved features, such as interactive product information and technical details, the ability to request product samples and further information and a Projects gallery to showcase the latest work, making the user journey more relevant.

One important issue that needed to be targeted with the new website was that it needed to use a content management system, in this case WordPress. WordPress allows staff to update and amend the website quickly and easily at any time. Due to the increase of web users preferring mobile and tablet devices, the new website has been developed as a responsive website. This allows the website to resize, depending on screen size, so its visitors on all devices can use it effectively.

The Results

Imperial Bricks are very happy with their new responsive website. In the first 12 months since the site was live, traffic has increased, with improved retention and conversion rates.
